Minor Flood Warning For The Macquarie River

MINOR FLOODING IS OCCURRING IN THE MACQUARIE RIVER CATCHMENT.
Minor flooding is occurring along the Macquarie River at Mount Morriston and is expected to extend downstream to Ross and Morningside overnight Sunday into Monday. Minor flooding is also occurring along the lower Macquarie River about Cressy Pumps.
Both Lake Leake and Tooms Lake are currently spilling with minor flooding.
In the 24 hours to 9:00 am Sunday, rainfall totals of 20-45 mm were recorded in the Macquarie River catchment. A further 2-10 mm are forecast for the remainder of Sunday.
Strong and dangerous flows are likely to be a hazard for the coming days.
Macquarie River above Mt Morriston:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Macquarie River above Mt Morriston.
Water level data are not currently available from Tooms Lake. However river level data downstream of Tooms Lake indicate that the lake is spilling, with minor flooding (the spillway and the minor flood level are 4.40 m).
The Tooms Lake is expected to remain above the minor flood level (4.40 m) during Sunday and Monday.
The Macquarie River at Mount Morriston peaked at 1.83 metres around 05:00 pm Sunday 24 October and is currently at 1.77 metres and falling, with minor flooding.
The Macquarie River at Mount Morriston may remain above the minor flood level (1.50 m) overnight Sunday into Monday.
Macquarie River - Mt Morriston to Elizabeth River:
Minor flooding is likely along the Macquarie River - Mt Morriston to Elizabeth River.
Water levels are not currently available for Ross.
The Macquarie River at Ross is likely to peak near 2.40 metres overnight Sunday into Monday.
Minor flooding is occurring along the Elizabeth River.
Lake Leake is currently at 5.40 metres and spilling, with minor flooding (minor flood level is 5.0 m). Lake Leake is expected to continue spilling and remain above the minor flood level over coming days.
The Elizabeth River below Lake Leake is currently at 0.59 metres and steady.
The Elizabeth River below Lake Leake is likely to remain below the minor flood level overnight Sunday into Monday.
River levels are now easing along the Isis River.
Macquarie River - Elizabeth River to Lake River:
Minor flooding is likely along the Macquarie River - Elizabeth River to Lake River.
The Macquarie River at Morningside is currently at 3.21 metres and rising.
The Macquarie River at Morningside is likely to exceed the minor flood level (3.50 m) and peak near 3.60 metres overnight Sunday into Monday.
Strong river rises are occurring along the Lake River.
River levels are now easing along Brumbys Creek.
Macquarie River - Lake River to Longford:
Minor flooding is expected along the Macquarie River - Lake River to Longford.
The Macquarie River at Cressy Pumps is currently at 3.13 metres and steady, with minor flooding.
The Macquarie River at Cressy Pumps is expected to remain above the minor flood level (3.00 m) overnight Sunday into Monday. A second peak is expected late Tuesday.
